Family friendly holidays in west France
We're located mid-way between the airports at La Rochelle and Bordeaux, and within a few miles of the A10 motorway exits at Gemozac and Mirambeau. Allow about 1¼ hours from either airport or 4½ hours from St Malo and 5 hours from Caen non-stop.
Ferries on the longer Brittany Ferries crossings are good because the timings are conducive to a good night's sleep, arriving refreshed in France at about 8 a.m.
From the north (the ports, La Rochelle airport):
Exit the A10 at junction 36 and turn right at the roundabout immediately after the toll booths towards Gemozac on the D732. At the next roundabout go straight on towards the centre of Gemozac. At the first set of traffic lights (in the town centre) turn left towards Mortagne on the D6. Drive for about 4 kilometres out of town and look for a grain silo and depot on the right named Isodor. 100 metres after this take a left turn signposted Les Elies and La Bigorre. Follow the lane for about half a kilometre to the first left turn (by the pond) signposted La Bigorre. Take this lane and go straight over the crossroads and round a sharp 'S' bend. About fifty metres later our house is on the right.
Remember you can take one route out (say Portsmouth/St Malo) and return by another (say Caen/Portsmouth) to get the most convenient times. We are also pleased to be able to offer our guests 20% off their ferry crossing if they book with Brittany Ferries.
Low-costs flights to La Rochelle and Bordeaux are also popular, with both airports just over one hour away from La Bigorre. Bergerac, Poitiers, Limoges, Rennes and Toulouse airports are also options.
From the south (Bordeaux airport):
Exit the A10 at junction 37 and turn left onto the D730 towards Royan. Drive for about 12 kilometres and then turn right onto the D125, signposted to St Germain du Seudre. Upon entering St Germain, take the tight left turn after passing the small car park on the right (there is a sign to La Bigorre, but it is on the wall behind you). Where the road forks, keep right and through a hamlet called Le Chay. At the T-junction, go left and then take the next right. This road will bring you into La Bigorre and we are the second property on the left – you will pass the entrance to our car park.
We don't have a house name - La Bigorre is the hamlet - so look out for the well which is situated beside the house. All our guests have found us easily but if you have any problems, ring us (+33 9 72 46 88 07 or text +33 6 02 66 94 17) and we will guide you in!
